At the end of the day none of it matters. When I was laid off two months ago, I was in the middle of being onboarded onto the biggest LOB campaign on the account.
Our clients were and still are shook I was cut. Sometimes you don’t see it coming.
Live your life, do great work, but also remember to prioritize YOU.
I shouldn't have read this lol. Going to spend the rest of the year over analyzing every management decision under the assumption I'm getting canned.
I cannot stress this enough, especially for younger sales professionals.

Always make sure that you're damn good at your job (client relations and selling). Make sure you know how to analyze your territory, how to speak the business language of your prospects, make sure you know how to sell from board level right down to individual contributor.
If you have a demonstrable track record of delivering revenue + a decent network of senior executives + experience in working in at least 2-3 adjacent industries, then you will always be in demand. If your current employer isn't meeting YOUR standards of income, work-life balance, learning new skills, etc then dump them and leave.
Loyalty from the employer means jack shit, especially if they're a publicly traded firm. Don't catch feelings now. You're an expendable resource, and you need to treat your employer the same way. It's just a two-way business relationship, that's all.
