I'm an anxious perfectionist and chronic overthinker, I'm never ready for anything. I have to do everything with a sense of panic and nervousness, but do it anyway or else I'll never get anything done.
Honestly, that sounds so familiar. I do most things with a knot in my stomach, but somehow that anxious energy gets the job done. You’re definitely not alone in that.
That's the thing, if you wait until you're ready you'll always be waiting. Sometimes you just have to step up and try to do something that's been a bit beyond you. It's surprising, and also gratifying, to find that you can think on your feet and wanting to be ready is no longer an issue.
Sometimes jumping in is the only way to prove to yourself that you're more capable than you thought. It’s scary but also kind of empowering, right?
I started helping out with interviewing, and that was something I absolutely did not feel ready for. I had some knowledge of the process, but taking it over more was a big one. Jumped in nervously and learned a lot. It would have been easy for me to pass it off, but so thankful I didn’t.
Interviewing is such a leap when you’re new to it. I’m glad you gave it a shot—you’re probably making others feel braver now just by sharing that.
