I want to do FP&A. I’m a senior II and recruiters have told me it’s tough to get into with only Big4 experience. Is this true? Do you suggest doing more of a senior acct role then internal transfer?

I’d go private for a while to a small company and then go to fp&a

Easier if you have strong excel skills / data analytics...but it may be harder unless you’re willing to take a slight demotion since you’re in pretty deep.

I had a risk advisory (internal audit) coworker get a job in FPA after working 1.5 years, left a little before senior. They learned SQL and Tableau on their own, not sure how applicable it is for what they do but it was always my understanding FP&A was light data analytics / very advanced excel.

Get some modeling experience. Take CFA L1 to show you’re serious about finance.

Hello all,
I’m stuck in a bit of a hole.
In short, I used to be an engineering manager that led a team of 15. Two years ago I changed companies. The new position I took was a huge step down to senior design engineer however the pay was actually the same and the benefits better. I thought it would be a good chance to get me out of the toxic company and then reset my career however, I’m struggling to now get a job as an engineering manager again.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I work with great people. Really can’t say anything bad about my firm in general either. But…I still dislike the entire premise of law firm life, the billable hour, etc.. I’d love to work in a law school setting as a counselor or something but I can’t afford the pay cut. *sigh* Does anyone feel like being a lawyer is just doing homework all day? First world problems I suppose. I’m very thankful to have a job ❤️
