I was a Salesforce dev/architect with 6 YOE and 13 Certs including app architect. I transitioned to broader open stack architecture and development which I find much more fun/challenging and fulfilling. But the time has come for cert renewals and I am having a hard time deciding if I should keep up with the certs or just let them expire. Any thoughts?

I’d recommend keeping those.

I took a marketing cloud cert long back and I still maintain it even if I don’t work in Salesforce.

like

It takes very low effort and zero dollars to retain the certs.

Why wouldn’t you? Takes a few minutes per just to do the Trailhead.

Retain. They actually matter to prospective employers.

To what tech stack exactly have you transitioned? I started having kind of the same idea in the last months. Maybe not exactly transitioning, but rather to learn extra stacks that may be useful.

Thanks I moved to a fintech role so it’s AWS full suite for architecture then Java and node.js for the backends, python for data analysis, angular for the front end and mongo and MySQL for databases. And understanding microservice architecture was a big part of this too

The cert renewals aren't nearly as hard as they used to be. Keep them.

I am a traditional reservist so I never really used military benefits before, but could use advice here.

I am currently renting and my lease is not up until October 2021, however I found a good deal on a home and scheduled to close in June 2021.

My landlord will not work with me to end the lease early, so it looks like I will have to double up on rent and mortgage through the summer.

If I went on active duty orders, can I use those orders to break my lease early without penalty?

Wondering what people think about my situation. I’ve been offered a role with a company. The job description didn’t mention college degree as a requirement. On my CV I have a section listed as “Education” and under it I have “Business Studies” with the university name and the 3 years that I attended the course (2.5 to be exact). It’s a 4 year degree and under this I have my High School equivalent with the years I attended there. The education wasn’t mentioned in the interviews. Continued below.
