Hello, I'm looking at a position within Paypal. My question, what is the work life balance, expectation for office (hybrid/remote/other) and is the pay comparable to other companies? Reviewing Director and Senior Director roles on the business side. I have over 15 years experience with multiple degrees. TIA!

I don't use it for B2B, I think you have to be extremely smart the way you would advertise there bc its such a no bs platform.
I'm not surprised its so high up there in utilization. I know I add "reddit" to most of my google searches so I can get the realest human opinions on things like brands, restaurants and even health issues.
Yes, that is where I got my electrician and the person to lay the foundation for a hot tub. Then I offered to set up alerts for them so that if they were asked about again or anybody needed an electrician for a discount.
I’m surprised you’re a marketing director and have never heard of SimilarWeb, it’s your best source for competitive web traffic analysis. For me, Reddit is hit or miss. Deep, niche subreddits can be a great source of information and product reviews, but the larger ones are often trash
It is an old title. I am a VP now so be more surprised 😉. My background is not digital. I came up through sales and product. So I leave tools to the digital team.
Reddits core userbase is comprised of anti-work, anti-capitalism activists. They do not leave their homes, and they do not have discretionary money to spend.
If you have adspend, put it in meta (Facebook, Instagram) and TikTok. Nobody buys from YouTube either.
YouTube is great at selling knowledge. If you have an expertise, sell the knowledge through eBooks, workshops, seminars/webinars, or private consultations. The sale of merchandise, such as t-shirts and other products, helps pay for gas and equipment. I am surprised at how people still concentrate on FB/IG/TikTok, but forget that on YouTube, there is a large audience to consider, especially because it targets way more people with short videos, but also with longer content, strengthening credibility. It works like television.
Reddit is #4 because Google acquired it a few years back. After the acquisition, Reddit links started appearing high on page 1 for queries.
Google has always had a metric called EEAT, Experience, Expertise, Authority and Trust. SEOs and businesses spend a lot of time and money satisfying that metric in order to rank.
Having Reddit threads show up high on page 1 was a slap in the face to SEO's. Why? Google has been saying for decades that your business needs to prove its expertise, authority and trust but now displays content from random unqualified people at the top of SERPs.
So Googles claim of " we want to present the most relevant content from the most reliable sources" is utterly false. Google does what benefits Google. Don't get me started on the ad spaces that are now dominating above the fold SERPs. I recently read that they are rolling out ads in their map platform now.
Thanks for taking the time to explain it that was very helpful.
What were the first 4? Personally, I don’t find that surprising. I find coming ahead of IG slightly surprising, but not out of the question.
My company does not use it, but we could with a solid strategy in place.
google.com, youtube.com, facebook.com, and amazon.com were the four websites ranked ahead of it
I end up on Reddit at least once a week. Everything is there. As for advertising, you’d have to understand the platform and the audience on it to have any luck. Even then, it’s just not a viable option for every brand.
Ahhh, smart! Definitely value in it, and it is a very clever way to use it properly.
Rising Star
Im surprised it took 5th, but would have assumed top 10 its truly got everything, and has become such a massive platform.
Yeah, I could see top 10 too.
That's not so surprising. It has grown into an enormous site, and a lot of people use it as a repository of information. For instance, if you need to fix something, you can often find that someone there had the same problem and posted about it. I've never been involved in marketing or advertising there, but it's something I've thought about at times.
Oh, I use it a lot. I just am surprised how high it went and also the B2B aspect. Every time I need somebody for something around the house I go to it.
Wow that’s wild! I could give them social site but wouldn’t imagine overall.
That was is what I thought.
useless
What is useless? I don’t know what to get from that comment.
Interesting that SimilarWeb has ranked it 5th. Although more than its size, I'd question the source of the SW offering. I used to work at Hitwise and our data was clear in its collection. To date I'm still to be assured of the same with SW, but it's one of the few left for independent ranking, So I'd take its answer with a pinch of salt.
Unsurprised by the top 4.
I used to work for a marketing agency that was pushing the use of Reddit for their client campaigns. Most clients didn't get it, but I did. Reddit has a paid ads system that is less complicated than Meta's and delivers better algorithmic results.
