I work for a small firm which is holding off on acquiring a large piece of business until we have an attorney that is admitted in a neighboring state. I’ve been in the process of getting admitted in that state for a while, which I started way before I knew about this potential business. The thing is, I’m actively looking to leave the firm, but I can’t tell anyone that. Any advice on how to navigate this? I’m feeling incredibly guilty but I know I have to do what is right for me.

When did you know your firm wasn't right for you? I'm not sure if it's just the stress of being a new attorney with a family or if my job isn't the right fit. I work in civil litigation and am consistently below my billables. I can't stay late because my kids need me and I can't work on the weekends because I have to maintain my house and take care of my kids. I work in a midsize firm and we have the basic subscription to westlaw, which doesn’t include the ability to see filed briefs, motions, etc without incurring additional costs. I’m wondering if there is a service in the NJ/PA area that gives you access to previously filed motions and briefs? So if I’m drafting a summary judgment I could search the service and find a similar one. If this doesn’t exist.. I think I found the next million dollar idea lol
