Can I ask you to be more specific. What is it that you think is annoying about your personality. Have you received anything specific during your annual or semiannual review. I have ADHD as well. I used to talk a lot and get easily distracted. I started using noise cancelling headphones and put the kind of music or audio books that work for me while working. You would have to find yours.
I think i need to stop discussing tax regulation, laws, and compliance and just mimic what was done previously. And not be helpful. Every time I try to do more it seems to backfire on me. Less over thinking things. I did notice some inconsistencies with what she tells me verses senior auditors.... so it is definitely a me thing.
I’m remote and find the same issue . Not for ADHD but bc I’m “direct” and detail oriented which you’d think is an asset but I think it offends upper mgt , annoys male managers who want me to see it “high level” which means plug it
There’s no reason you should be baffled. Ask for direct actionable feedback, and go from there. Your “awful” personality shouldn’t be a performance feedback item… find out what the issue is with your actual performance.
I take anti-seizure meds which cause irritability. What I have figured out is that I need to control myself. I am over 50 and just figuring this out.
If you want an update. It's retaliation. After speaking with a former auditor who had a very similar experience, and finding out the previous auditor i replaced, and another previous auditor who moved to another department, also had a similar experience. I was like Oooohhhh I see its my manager. Dont disagree with her or she will start to manage you out. Basically setting me up for failure. Refusing to allow me to do anything by surveillance must be live. Refusing to allow me to continue some very basic fieldwork I could have easily completed in 1 hour. Some it might have taken a bit more but not by much. I work at a sovereign government entity so ADA doesnt apply. It's very frustrating.
