I’ve heard Siegfried offers better work-life balance and higher pay, but it’s more project-based, so stability can vary. Structure isn’t exactly like Big 4.. less hierarchy, more independence. If you like variety and flexibility, it could be a great move. But if you prefer a clear promotion path, it might feel uncertain.
what about CPA?
Like all these people said - you’re outsourced staffing help. Heard the ceo is pretty nuts too
I worked at Siegfried after leaving big 4. Lasted only a year.
The work like balance is not better. Their standard work week is 45 hours and you don’t get an utilization bonus unless you average 48+ hours a year.
Base salary is comparable to big 4, the bonuses is what makes the pay significantly better. Also it’s up to you to interview and win your projects. You can be on the bench for a week or months at a time.
It was very unstable for me.
Agree with everything M1 said above. The structure is a bit different than public, lowest level is a senior associate and highest level is director. Promotion path isn’t as clear cut as it is in B4 but in general if you do well you can expect promos every 2-3 years. There’s definitely a lot of variety in projects if that’s something you’re looking for, most range anywhere from 3 - 9 months.
I did a busy season at Siegrfried, working as a seasonal resource at a Big 4 firm (2012-2013). Comp was much higher for me than the regular Big 4 staff got - at that time. I found that the work I was given was much more of the dead-end work that did not add anything to my skill set. And I was isolated from Siegfried colleagues - I was the lone consultant on my audits. (Siegfried did have ~monthly get-togethers for their resources, if you were close enough to attend. Clients could be real SOB's - happy with consultants when they were swamped with work then firing them for minute things when workload lightened. Siegfried did not go to bat for their staff in those cases. Staff were subjected to personal political commentary at the annual company meeting.
In my experience it;s up to you to keep the client happy and secure your role, Siegfried was too much ground to cover to do that for you.
can someone explain the types of jobs they were put on? what do you guys mean outsourced?
Thanks for this! Very helpful.
