If you are in-house and focused on privacy law, can you give me a sense if your Data Processing Agreement is crafted for compliance with the GDPR and CCPA only, or does it address compliance with all applicable data protection laws? If you are at a law firm working with clients on their DPAs, do you see more of the former or the latter? I’ve seen a mix and curious what is market. Thanks!

We focus on GDPR and CCPA. We keep up with other laws but at this stage our GDPR efforts seem to mostly cover us (I’m in-house).

Same here.

Most clients have DPAs for the GDPR, CCPA, or both. If another jurisdiction’s privacy law is highly relevant, we’d advise in compliance options on a case-by-case basis

like

It becomes a Frankendoc if you focus on all applicable laws instead of using a catchall, IME.

We cover only those two. There’s very little that would be required under another law that’s not already encompassed — asking customers to point out what obligations are missing usually works.

Thanks all!

We Indians are so poor we can't think anything else except money. Whole Fishbowl is all about YOe and Salary. No one interested about if any company doing any innovation or not. Hardly we can see Foreign Editorial things marked with Packages.

I believe in the philosophy of learning from other's experiences, success stories, mistakes and regrets while keeping in mind that similar set of life events may unfold into totally different ways/outcomes for others as there are always too many variables in the equation called LIFE. People may arrive at different destinations at different times while being on the almost similar path.

That being said-

This post is an alert message for anyone joining the Johnson & Johnson EMEA account for SAP & had Rakesh Sharma for their Manager round.

He is nothing less than a con man & will promise you a lot to make you join the account. After that he will put you in testing projects. If you ask for a release, he will either not release you or release with a very bad rating and influence other project managers to not take you into their projects.

You will be left with no choice other than leaving TCS.

Hi all,
Been doing privacy for about a year now in-house. Got my CIPP/US.
Having major imposter syndrome still. I feel like the minute I finally have a grasp, something changes. The law and nuances just seem overwhelming. Maybe it’s just a lack of guidance/uniformity in the US. I’m not sure if I feel this way because it is simply the nature of the work or because I’m just not capable.

Low billable, low pressure work in privacy law? Slowly realizing that as my boys get older, the money isn’t worth what I’m missing out on. Currently a tech litigation associate with lots of hearing, depo and trial experience (I’ve appeared on my own at hearings/depos) at a well respected firm. I have limited privacy experience despite being hired for that reason… Have my CIPM and CIPP/US /E and /C. Remote preferred; hubs is pilot with cool intl transfer opportunities. Money isn’t issue.
