Note- I don't want to tell anyone. Since it may backfire sometimes

We have SQL readability for internal transfers too. Look it up on Moma.
Re: your question, I see some T2 tech companies giving business intelligence/ data analysts SQL tests as part of the interview process. To be on the DS ladder at Google, you need stats too.
Thanks. I'm in a biz / pgm role and am solid at SQL. I really like it and was considering getting better but no interest in the super technical roles. Was wondering if there's any upside esp on the L5+ biz roles.
If you're looking for something more technical, I think data analyst would probably be your best bet in terms of your SQL knowledge. Data scientist might require some more technical skills with regards to machine learning, statistics, Python, etc.

For most data roles, SQL is a skillset that's firmly in the "necessary but not sufficient" category. With SQL, fancier Excel, and some case interview sense, you can pass for BI roles. Stuff like data analyst and data scientist will also require stats and some always unknown amount of ML and "regular language" leetcode, which aren't nearly as quick to learn. For DBA, you really need to learn the database tech and not just how to query. Closest to pure SQL will be some weirdly worded jobs with "analyst" in the name that say something like "data librarian" or focus on "reporting" in the description. Those are getting more and more outsourced though, since you can learn enough to do them in just a few days.
