I’ve been taking 3-4 weeks which I think it’s ten norm, as long as you’ve reached your target hrs you’ll be fine taking PTO
You should take more than 3-4 weeks
Depends on the firm but in public it's generally around 20 days, give and take based on how much you work. If you work a lot then most people won't say anything if you take more than 20.

1-2 weeks
At a minimum double this.
Including company time off, I’ve taken 8 weeks each of the past 3 years.
It’s not unlimited. There is a limited number of days in the year. It’s undefined. Three weeks.
??
I know people who have taken 10 weeks. If you get your work done you’re entitled to take as much time as you want. Unlimited means unlimited. Quite frankly it’s a scam that saves the firm millions of dollars. They do not need to pay out for unused time when someone quits.
Again bad advice in today’s market when firms are letting people go left and right.
I took 7 weeks last year and didn’t get any pushback
365 days. Sometimes 366
Great question - before we had unlimited PTO, associates at my firm started with 20 days and then it increased at certain levels/years. I think I was up to 27 days before we switched. So I make sure I take at least that much. I encourage my team members to schedule 4 weeks off, and then if they need another day here or there because they're sick or are caught up and want to take off a random Friday, go for it.
4 weeks if you’ve been there 3 years
I've worked at a few places that had "unlimited PTO" and others called it out for what it truly is, cost savings for the organization. Some teams that are adequately staffed were able to use far more of their time than others. I have never had a job where it was feasible to take 3+ weeks in a year. I've been lucky taking 1.5 weeks. If you seriously are out there taking 3-4 weeks off per year not counting holidays, you are very fortunate.
Anyone working a job where they’re genuinely unable to take 3 weeks or more off in a year, your employer is taking advantage of you and you should look for better opportunities.
I try to take at least 25 days. That’s what it was before we switched to unlimited. I haven’t gone over that since the switch though.
I rack it up. Leave early on Fridays, take most of November & December. Get your work done and take time for your own sanity. As long as your work is done and your clients' needs are met, I'm out! At the end of the year, I land somewhere around 4-5 weeks.
Well I accrue 22 days a year, then there’s like another 10-15 of (floating) vacation. So you need to at least take 3 weeks of personal time and another 1 week relating to holidays
I’ve historically written off 20 of 30 days accrued.
Now we’re unlimited - not any full days
Literally had to give a QBR coming off sedation for a small procedure.
I’m considering pregnancy as an alternative to pto
If I am given unlimited PTO, as long as I get all of my weekly work done, I'm taking a mid-week day off every week. I would love to have a paid Wednesday off. It would seriously break up the monotony and grind of a 5 day work week to split it into 2 sets of 2 days. As long as I get my work done every week I would love to work a 32-hour week and get a day paid.
