Keeping your CPA license active can grant you a competitive edge, show that you are proactive in keeping up with new technology and standards, and lead to higher compensation over the course of your career. If you bill yourself as a CPA and work full-time in accounting, you need an active CPA license. Keeping your CPA status active keeps a host of post-retirement activities open.
Good reasons to continue your CPA license.
I’m keeping mine active. My company reimburses me for the dues too
Considering the challenging aspect of getting mine, I will not ever let mine lapse. CPE is easy, and most places will likely reimburse for the time and money to maintain, especially considering some industry roles require it.
Doing the CPE is the easy part. Just watch a few webinars from the big4 per month for free to stay ontop of everything.
I've kept mine and plan on keeping it active until I retire.
It's harder to do CPE as you move up and have more responsibilities, but I put too much effort to let it lapse. Plus, it's still relevant and has helped with advancement.

For all the effort that goes into getting the license through the education and the work requirements, having to add the word inactive after the CPA designation in my mind basically negates the efforts.
After I pass all these parts of the exam, you will have to take that license from my cold dead hand. LOL
Just need the CPE every year and pay the fee. Worth it until it’s not.
I plan to 100% once I move to industry
