If you notice a new coworkers watch in a zoom call, do you message them about it? Or is that gauche?

I do it to clients often. Started some interesting convos, and gave me something to talk about for chit chat if needed.

Just went to a conference (first since covid) and definitely used watches as an opener with one of the people at dinner. As long as it’s an interesting watch, almost a guarantee they’re a watch person.

Outcome would be neutral at worst, and positive at best. Probably worth the risk, since it may establish a new network connection.

And tell them to join this bowl if they’re not already here!

If you noticed it in a zoom call they probably wanted someone to notice it lol. That’s my take anyway

I love my job and the people I work with, but there’s one thing that really bothers me: the lack of diversity. Sometimes when I walk into the office and see everyone else around me as the only POC, it feels kind of weird. I don’t think anyone here has ever said anything racist or sexist to me personally, but I don’t feel comfortable talking about these issues with anyone because they might take it personally and then things could get awkward between us.

An employee came to me in confidence to raise concern about a colleague of hers who speaks often about guns and how many he owns, etc. Based on what she's described, I don't believe this person has been threatened in any way, but it's clear that the situation is making her feel very uncomfortable - especially given recent events. What, if anything, can I or should I do to help? The company is on the smaller side, so there's really no option to move either employee to a different team.

Tips on work life balance is this instance? My acct is only about 7 months old & considered a huge win/growth driver for my agency. The high stress, adhoc requests never stop. My GAD is so hands off — Never picks up slack, just delegates, never says no. Then comes in at the last hour to nitpick yet not help. My clients & team (minus my GAD) are good people but it’s hard to live with such a high volume stress. Any strategies for surviving this acct? Not native to the fact this is agency life :/

Any Hamilton watch connoisseurs out there? Looking to buy a Khaki Field for the BF but can't decide between Amazon, an AD in NYC, or the Hamilton site. Going gray market would be $100+ cheaper than direct but their warranty is more suspect. Tourneau, an AD in NYC, has their own 3 year warranty on top of Hamilton's 2 years but have read horror stories about how they don't follow through. Any suggestions for a novice would be great (including recs for reputable ADs in NYC). Thanks!
