While it’s great to have goals to strive for and more money is obviously still better for most, don’t let yourself get down before you even have a chance to try. Maybe focus more on what work you really want to do, become great at it, and trust that the rest will come along the way. The journey to that “success” (whatever it may be for you) is most of the fun
If you’re surrounded by people with $10MM or $100MM NW, even people making $1M a year would feel poor hanging out with them. While I’m sure it’s great having a nice boat and owning a Ferrari, unless you shoot for the moon, you’ll still be beholden to your job for your lifestyle earning $1MM but keeping up with the Jones’s. Most of us realistically just won’t get to that 1% or .1% wealth, so it’s better to work hard, but also learn to be thankful for the lot of what we have already, because even the PE folks probably won’t be living the DiCaprio life anytime soon. Just don’t give up being happy 99% of the time all for the sake of “living that life” 1% of the time
Well said!

This is a nice sentiment. I think the frustration is often attributed to a "keeping up with the Joneses" mentality...
...but let's not disregard people with real financial needs who come here and see other posters getting 2x more at the exact same level of experience/work/effort. That is not easy to ignore.
