If you’re suing someone and their insurance attorney guy calls you with a lowball settlement, do you need to tell them you’re rejecting it or can you just not respond to the offer?

Another foot-in-my-mouth situation where what I said was misinterpreted but still shouldn’t have said in the first place. My lack of filter, especially after a few drinks, is constantly getting me in trouble. How many of you are struggling with not having your mouth lead your brain?

How important is the prestige of the university where you do your undergrad?

I lateraled from a small firm to regional big law last year. I was told that my offer was commensurate with class year (5th year). The firm recently increased first year salary, with a 5% increase for all other attorneys. My original salary was equal to the new first year salary. The difference between my new salary and a first year is now $10k. I think it is fairly obvious that the hiring partner was not truthful with me. How would you address this? Is another lateral move my only option?

What is the typical salary range in NYC for a strategy director with 6.5/7 years of experience? Was offered 100K but seems low.

Just got offered to join potential project that would relocate me to LA for 3-4 months for onsite work. I racked up about $20k in credit card debt due to a confluence of things happening at once (move, school expenses , etc ). I have a fair amount of paper assets but not a much free cash. Assets are down a decent amount with the current market cycle and I’d prefer not to sell them to cover the debt , although they easily could. In contrast, my legal argument section is generally without edits. For context, first defense lit job post appellate clerkship. Is this normal??
