I’m a family lawyer getting an LLM in cybersecurity and data privacy. Any suggestions for how to find a job doing privacy? I’m looking for experience and I’m not getting interviews.

Have you gotten the IAPP certification? They’re also doing a call for volunteers right now, which can help beef up your resume.

I’m not a privacy attorney, but I’m interested in the field and I’ve spoken to a few privacy attorneys. CIPP/US definitely wouldn’t hurt, and you might consider starting in a privacy manager role to get your foot in the door.

That said (and I always hate this advice but it’s unfortunately true) networking is important. Most of the folks I spoke with got their first privacy gig because they knew someone at the firm or company, and many had no actual privacy experience prior to their first role.

Lot of fear in the market right now (understandably so). The situation in Ukraine is awful and the potential consequences are scary to think about.

There are some who want to sell in fear of their investments falling further. Do not do this. Hold and continue to buy more. Continue your 401k contributions, and add whatever you can afford after every paycheck into your brokerage. Those who sold the covid crash were often late buying back in.

This is the dip you're worried about.

My friend just got out of a relationship and hooked up with his ex's best friend a week later. They're now dating and seeing each other everyday.
I couldn't help but feel like this wasn't an appropriate thing to do for both parties. He also revealed that he cheated on his past exes.

I'm naturally feeling a bit weary of his character and questioning whether this is a friend I want to keep close in my life. Perhaps I'm being too judgmental?

How are 1st year litigation associates dealing with WFH? I’ve been having terrible anxiety/panic attacks, and pretty sure my billables wont exceed 110 for April. I’ve been super stressed about it and don’t know how to move on to May with the proper mindset to make up for as much time missed as possible. CA courts are still closed, and I’m worried I won’t be able to exceed (or even meet) my May goal after April.

Transactional junior associate in biglaw. Working for a dedicated practice group rather than in an associate pool. For the past few months, I’ve been loaned to another practice group for a good chunk of time. While the people are decent and the hours aren’t terrible, I detest the work and don’t see a future in this new practice. My main partner says it should end in the next month, but I don’t expect that to happen. Is it a terrible idea to ask to be taken off?

If I’ve already agreed to a start date on 11/28 how bad would it be to reach out and ask to push it to 12/5?

I recently had a specialist partner send me a fairly nasty email after I (a transactional first year) was told to ask them to review something ASAP that had clearly been on my partner’s radar for over a week. Why am I taking the (honestly justified) blame for this? Surely it should be obvious that I’m just the messenger here.

Any advice on how to deal with a partner/boss who is shifting all responsibility to me with zero guidance, no mentoring, and an unwillingness to discuss the issues? (Small firm, only associate under this partner and have been working at the firm for 2 years).
