Im a fourth year attorney and I want to literally restart as a first year in a new practice area. Is this possible? No ego holding me back.

yes, but you need a compelling story and to demonstrate you’re competent and not flakey.

As someone who’s done this, I don’t think you even need a compelling story. As long as you have a legitimate reason for switching and a firm/group is hiring and has the demand, you can retool (OP is already willing to take whatever class year cut is necessary to retool and that’s usually half the battle—and I’m assuming OP is willing to lateral if needed).

What do you want to switch to?

Do you really have to start back as a first year? Don’t you have some transferable skills?

I would just like to take this time to tell everyone that no matter what your role is, or who you work for.. that we work to live, we don't live to work.

I understand that statement has some degree of privilege.

However when things are all said and done, a lot of us won't be worried about the extra dollars we made or an additional title we got, but what we were able to do with the time we had.

I’d like to plan my first solo trip a week before Christmas (12/16-12/23). Love outdoor activities in warm climates. Any recommendations for a solo trip? Thanks!

Thinking about a move to Charlotte but my husband wants to spend some time there first. Anyone know of a rental for a month or so this winter? (Or want to home swap to spend some time in Colorado this winter)

Fishes, Help me choose : 1)Natwest Senior DS 2) Fractal, DS 3)Bain & Company, Data Science Specialist .. Natwest and Bain are both in-house roles. Won't be working for clients ( I prefer this) Fractal is client facing role . All offering similar packages ( discussions with Bain are in process they might give 2 lpa more than others) I am looking to sharpen my deep learning skills over the next couple of years. Also want good WLB. Which one to join? Bain & Company NatWest

Working on some law firm applications tonight and it sucks that I know that I am so capable and have a strong work ethic but firms can’t see beyond grades or the fact that I didn’t go to a t14 law school or prestigious undergrad. I’ve worked twice as hard and feel like I’ve barely even gotten half as much. It’s discouraging sometimes especially because I worked so hard with pretty much no guidance (first gen, poc, low-income) to get into college and do well and then get into a t30 law school
