I’m a new financial advisor and joined my first firm that is with Securian. We get paid a commission and fee(if we charge). I do not charge a fee. I am trying to understand more of the different firms and why/how they charge. What is better? I was approach with a potential opportunity at Raymond James but they are fee only. MD or MBA? I got into both. I know most will say choose the MD, but hear me out: MD: I'd have to go into a specialty to have a good IRR given my salary & the $200K+ debt. By the time I'd be done with residency the US may be in a single payer system. US doctors make 3x the amount in France and 2x vs UK.. I currently make what a doctor makes in France. That could be the future here, too. MBA: 1 yr. Europe. I'd make about 15-20% more vs. now.

$290K total compensation at age 37. Good or bad? I feel like ppl earn a lot more by 37.

I just got married and make double what my husband does ($155k vs $80k not inc. bonus which is $10k vs $3k), what do other couples do in this scenario for expenses/savings? For joint expenses I pay double and for joint savings I double what he can afford to put in (he puts in $500/month so I put in $1k) For rent I pay $1500 and he pays $1250. We put in 50% of our bonuses into our joint savings.
