I'm a runner and want to start taking my dogs on runs. What is the real, rational advice on running a one-year-old mid-sized puppy on hard surfaces, such as asphalt? We typically run on trails, or in the forest, but do run on the pavement from time to time.

It can put a lot of stress on your dog's body and can even put them at risk of injury to their legs. But I think it's okay to take them on short-distance run sometimes.

Like above said not recommended but if you want to start on short runs and then maybe add distance as they get older than maybe ok.

Asphalt and hot sand can burn dogs' paws, so I would be very careful.
