That push-pull is real. It might help to explore adjacent roles that offer steadier schedules -- training, union work, or longer-form gigs. You don’t have to give up the craft, just rethink where and how you use it.
I coach folks in this industry through BetterUp, and one thing I’ve seen help is separating “Do I love this work?” from “Do I love this lifestyle?” Big difference.
Totally hear you— this industry can be such a rollercoaster. The work’s rewarding, but the lack of consistency takes a toll. I think a lot of us wrestle with whether the hustle is worth it long term. It might help to explore side gigs or adjacent roles that offer a bit more stability without losing the creative spark. Doesn’t have to be all or nothing.
