Not a good idea. The small firm is likely losing people and has no training resources. Is it Reference Point? Stay at PWC, change projects.

I had a head hunter reach out to me for a role at Reference Point. Pay seems good but they are very small, is there reason to avoid them?

like

Your exit. It’s easy to get stuck in a small firm.

Less likely, but you may have less interesting projects...though you may also have other opportunities to support BD etc sooner. The issue is the size and brand recognition. It’s easier to go from a large recognized company to a smaller one than vice versa.

like

Consider your long term goals. PwC would certainly offer better exit opportunities than the smaller firm should you want to exit consulting. What opportunities does the smaller firm have that PwC couldn’t provide?

More vacation days (4 weeks as opposed to 3 weeks for senior associates) flexibility to work remotely outside of Canada (big plus for me) and most importantly (maybe that's my perception weighing in) more visibility into work and more exposure to things because there are less of us do we are encouraged to be involved in a broader range of work

Such a move is a trade from a known mega-brand to a no-name company. That is then the start point for your next career decision. It’s very hard to “climb” in a career. Much easier to trade down. And the trade down again.

What would you guys suggest? Would it be detrimental to my career if I did not take up any certifications?
