I wouldn’t have thought people would get bonuses/raises/performance reviews while away on any kind of leave
Not discrimination. Leave policies typically state things like that are delayed until you get back. Also 1 year mat leave is a lot more than most places.

Why would you get a salary bump when you’re not actively working?
I’m confused…you expected a bonus while not working?
Yes, so perhaps I should've mentioned I'm based in Canada.
Secondly, yes I did get a 'bonus' because this is for my performance over the prior year where I was working. My question is about a salary raise.
If the company is offering pay raises to employees for this year (to reflect inflation etc.) Why should I be treated differently? I'm receiving a top up from my company while on mat leave, so I would have expected the pay raise to be reflected as all other staff.
Can we talk about what company is offering a one year maternity leave? Insane
Netflix does I think
You have to be an active employee in order to get your raise at kpmg as well.
They may allow you to become active in the system for 1 day, do trainings, call a client or something, to activate your raise. And then go back on leave.
Even while you're on disability?
Doesn't everything "freeze" when you go on Mat/Pat leave. So when you come back you are at the same point in progression as the day you left?

I don’t think it’s reasonable to expect a raise while you’re on paid leave.
That’s discrimination

Wife is pregnant in residency - we are fighting for 6 weeks... will probably lose this battle.
Just to clarify, I'm based in Canada, where we have a 1 year mat leave that's government mandated and we received employment insurance during that year and a top up from our employer. My question is about being included on the pay raise (usually a standard 2-4% raise to reflect inflation etc), when all other staff in the company receive it.

Okay this changes things. If it’s an across the board increase that everyone gets then absolutely you should also get it
