I don't see any reason to have two sites. If you're showing off work you've done, you might as well have it all in one place. It's assumed things would have been done for various assignments, so unless there's something radically different about the items it might as well be shown as one body of work.
I had a feeling this was the right way of thinking about it, I've read some people saying that separating services and projects seems to be a good way about it and keeps you looking professional. Appreciate the answer man ✌️
I put anything and everything in my portfolio website, even my webcomics. My highest salaried jobs (3 of them) involved using my webcomic style for eLearning, funny ads, animation, etc.. When I sat down with a career prep counselor at my college (School of Visual Arts, NY), she encouraged me to put my personality into my portfolio like that. It makes you stand out. Next thing I knew, I was having a meeting with Milton Glaser approving my design work, for a client who the only thing they said to me about my portfolio was “I like your comics!” Anyways, just saying hiring someone is a lot less mechanical and a lot more human than you think.
This has given me a lot to think about regarding my portfolio for sure. I really appreciate the answer, I've got some side animation projects I've done that I've decided to add just because that's who I am. So thank you. Seriously
I would have one site that highlights the best of both worlds. Because future employers aren’t gonna look at two websites so lead with your best foot forward.

I feel like the work is similar enough that you can have it all on one portfolio and even if the work was wildly different, if its work that you're doing I would put it all in the same site just different sections. The only reason I could see building two different sites is if you have two different business entities but that doesn't seem like the case
