Forget that, find an option 3 that doesn’t suck that much and pitch to your manager. Monday 5am flight flying west should get you to the office by 9-10am. You should easily be able to catch a 4-5pm flight on Thursday out with that schedule
damn - u gonna hate this prj son 😁
Option 1.
A new manager?
Why a red eye at all? Are you really gonna stay in the office till 10pm working? I don’t think productivity will be at its highest at that point, and then no work will happen on Fridays either...
Why not the 5:05pm Thursday (or 7:50 if you really have to)? Seems unnecessary to red eye when you won’t even get in that much later on Monday
Option 1. But I’ve been the manager for a few consultants now that flew Mon 7am (Getting in at noon) and Thurs ~3-4pm. Sooo... push back a bit ...
Oh honey. Make sure you look up your California labor laws
Option 1, I wouldn’t want to be at ORD on Monday morning at 5am 😭😭😭😭
1st- Tell manager to f off..
2nd - Talk to PMO and explain your situation
3rd - Get roll-off from the project. Coast to coast travel projects are never fun and you will burn out very quick..
Why is a manager micromanaging your flights?
Def Sunday
Personally I’d rather do 2 - I don’t like giving up Sunday’s for work and I bet you could find an evening Thursday flight that still puts you in your bed Thursday night. If not, at least you’re doing the red eye before a Friday where it’s less demanding than Monday on a client. IMO.
I’d see if you could swing option 2 with a 7pm Thursday instead of red eye
I wonder if said Manager is reading this? If so, making your team take an unnecessary red eye when they could take the 8pm home is ridiculous
Mon 5 am & Thu 1 pm...
Non negotiable
I’ve been doing the ORD-SFO run for over year on the 7a Monday and 2:15 or 4:30p Thursday flights back and they’ve never been an issue. I’d push back HARD because that’ll kill your entire week regardless
Yeah, there are TONS of options to fly SFO to ORD on Thursdays that are reasonable. 3:30pm, 5pm, 6pm, 7pm, 10pm. I don’t get why he’s making you take the red eye tho. Is there anyone else that’s gonna be on site on Thursday evenings?
Just say “no” - fly out Monday - back Thursday at a reasonable time.
I don’t understand why they are micromanaging your flights. Chicago to SF is not that far... like 4 hours! You can fly out Monday am and leave Thursday afternoon and still be productive. Did the PMO sign off on this?
Your manager stone cold
