Additional Posts in Salary Negotiations
Im not searching for a new job but an acquaintance reached out about a similar role at a similar energy company.Turns out 2 ppl threw my name in the hat. I looked into it and the position was posted 2 weeks ago.Their director wants to meet.I bet pay is one of the first things to be discussed so that no one’s time is wasted.Am I crazy for not wanting to entertain it for less than 20-25% base pay increase? Is it selfish to ask for more? I’m sure most salary conversations end in negotiation anyways?
Can anyone share their experience with an ESOP?

Ask for 160k, then they will probably offer you 150k and take that. Regardless, you should probably take the offer because the market sucks. If they say 150 isn’t possible, you shouldn’t my go below 140 though. I’m not sure about PTO though because I’ve never negotiated that.
I feel like asking for $160 is actually kind of rude though. They had the range clearly posted in the job description AND they asked me about my salary expectations/if I was within that range. Usually you can go $2-5K above what you truly want to get what’s really in your mind. But $10K 😬 … I would be pissed if a candidate did that much of a leap.
I didn’t get what I was asking for but was able to get an extra week of PTO, something that would have taken 5 years to get. It equaled to the $2,000 difference in pay. Plus I get to carry over 80 hours each year.
Ask for what medical and group benefits they have to offer as it would be substantial cost if you had to pay from your pocket.
