Guys - is it a wise decision to convert 401k into cash equivalent after a long positive run and try to time the market. Have a buddy who switches around his 401k every time the market rallys positive
Now that the Uber Card is changing it’s terms for the worst. Any recommendations on a new credit card? Would prefer no annual fee, but needs good return on restaurants, travel, etc. or a combo?
New hire- I’m making my employer 401k match, and have money sitting around. Can I put a lump sum into a Roth IRA or something before the year ends?
Is there a status challenge with United that KPMG is offering? I was remote last year and lost my gold status and have been traveling group 3 :(
Our office isn't mandating people to come in until next year. But I went in and ended up staying until 11pm. Can I request reimbursement for a ride back home? Not sure if I can because the firm hasn't told us we must come in...
Third trimester pregnant lady here -- last flight before maternity leave! Jumping for joy 🌟
Have anyone done contracting negotiations before? I've interviewed for co A & B and co A extended an offer today. The offer does not meet my current salary. Co B's interview structure is 3 rounds and I've finished my 2nd round today. The recruiter mentioned that since I am a contractor my current salary is incomparable as they will provide benefits, etc. Is this true? I have 2 yrs of contracting HR exp from fortunate 500 co’s & OMW to get my SHRM-CP. Appreciate your advice in advance.
Pros and cons of rolling over 401k from old employer to an IRA vs new employers plan? Other than the usual limitations in options etc.? Considering moving it to something like schwab IRA
Early 20s. Have amassed around 100k in my 401k. I have been contributing pre tax and just recently this year did both pre tax 19,500 and 6k in my Roth IRA as well. Am I doing this correctly? Should I be contributing into the after tax bucket vs. pre tax going forward for next year?
Best credit card without any fee?
Currently mid twenties, and trying to take financing more seriously and would really appreciate some insight on how to allocate my income into savings! Make about roughly 70k a year (post-tax, no pre-tax contributions). I spent about $3,350 a month (~40k a year on rent, car loan, bills etc), so I have about roughly 30k to save annually. Obviously putting 6k into roth ira, and I need help with insight on how to allocate he remaining 24k between Roth 401k, emergency fund, personal saving, etc.
Does anyone have anecdata as to whether there is a waiting period (and if so, how long) before maternity leave benefits kick in for laterals in biglaw? I know in other industries, a year is common, but not sure if that is the case among large law firms.
For those that fly Southwest, do you ever book business select or just buy cheapest fare?
Both SO and I are new in our careers, about a year+ in. We don’t make the amount of money that some of you all make (yet) but we’re doing above average compared to our peers just a year out of school. Looking for advice as we start our personal finance and investment journey: pay off consumer debt before maxing out 401k? And where does student debt and/or mortgage fit into the picture? FWIW, both of our parents probably won’t be able to retire anytime soon, so can’t get much advice from family.
Help! Just learned that my parents (54 and 56) only have ~100k in their retirement account. Their house is currently worth ~800k with ~450k left to pay on the mortgage. Their income is ~200k combined. They insist that they’ll have enough to retire on with social security and after selling the house. However, I have a hard time believing this since the max monthly social security payout is ~3k per person which doesn’t even get close to the 70-80% replacement ratio. How screwed are they really?
I have $3,5k in tuition reimbursement that I’d love to use before the year is over. Looking for recommendations on where to use it! Open for spring enrollment as long as I can pay for it this year
Are there any companies still left in US other than FANG who sponsor the H1B? Sick of getting rejections because of the visa status Any lead will be helpful
Initial phone interview with an SM at Deloitte. Already completed recruiter screening. What can I expect? Currently, an M at EY
10+ YOE, experienced hire, and up for promotion to SC this year. My current project is straight up analyst work (absolutely no disrespect). I spend my days doing nothing but updating excel sheets, producing reports for slides, and doing extremely boring work (go into 100+ folders/excels and report back on who's completed what). I not only feel like this is BS, but I feel like it's going to screw up my promotion. I've never asked any analyst I have worked with to do this stuff, yet here I am...
Can anyone share the interview process for a Senior Associate position? I have a panel interview with two team members but I’m not sure if it’ll be case/behavioral. Already did my recruiter screening.
I switched to a new in house role for a health care company in February, this is the organization’s first in house role. The outside counsel they have worked with closely and is respected in the field has had a series of MAJOR misses this year and I need to deal with this, I am cognizant that I am new and younger and want to be respectful. Working on a plan for legal services going forward and any advice would be helpful. He is nearing retirement so I don’t know if that is part of it.
What’s KPMG’s percent range for bonus and salary increases at the senior associate level? Thanks in advance for any info you can share
What is your go to end of interview question?
Networking question here. A retired partner at the firm I used to work out reached out to me recently about attending an afternoon during the week (b4 4/30) with one of his long time clients. The partner and I have kept in touch since I joined my new firm and I feel like his invitation is a great networking opportunity since the client (who I have worked with before) is on a number of boards. Torn as how to request off as an S3. Could materialize to nothing but could be good for reconnecting.
I've been taking the past few months off in order to work on my mental health and learn new technologies that are popular in my industry. How long a gap can I take before it sends warning signs to employers?
Freelance question here! What’s a reasonable hourly rate to charge for some branding/UI work? For context, this is for a mobile app startup; UX is largely in place but they need help branding it and taking the visuals to the next level. I have a few years of design experience but a lot of it has been informal (side projects, work projects here and there) since I’m not technically a full-time designer. Any thoughts appreciated :)
McKinsey & Company Bain & Company Boston Consulting Group fishes, how much in bonus value do you get if you refer a candidate and she is being hired? Country does not matter unless it is Euro zone. Thanks!
There’s at least 3 dead flies lying around my hotel room, and 3 more flying around. Big flies, not fruit flies...I changed rooms. Is this worth asking for points?
Talking with Deloitte about coming in as a SM, specifically in Cyber Advisory and in D.C. Metro area. Been working MENA and APAC for a number of years. Insights around salary, package, expectations?
Interviewing for a role at Deloitte Strategy & Ops Business Insights UK. Got a 4 hour long round 2 (video interview) with case study, presentation type rounds. What type of cases can I expect ?
Should I go for a PPO plan or a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP)? It seems that I can only have a Health Savings Account (the one that rolls over) if I have an HDHP but I wanted to weigh pro/cons
Your task is to blow a job interview in the first 30 seconds. What do you do? “How strict is the sexual harassment policy?”
