I'm looking to possibly move out of state. I've never looked for jobs out of state before. Do any of you have some good advice for looking for jobs out of the state you live in?

Look up property! Prices are very different from state to state. Look up cost of living and state taxes. If they have tolls, it’s extra money in the area you have to allocate for. Look up the cost of gyms. It might be way more expensive to live in a new area.

Also, in this "new world" especially if you have family look at the crime rate, it seems to have tripled in areas. I moved to Louisville KY about 15 years ago for a contract position. I really liked the area then. But the contract ended and I wound up coming back to Iowa. I tried going back at the end of 25. The job I moved for was a total disaster. But the time that I spent back there I found that the crime rate was much much different than 10 yrs ago.

Thank you for sharing your question. Looking for out-of-state jobs can feel challenging, but your skills and experience are still highly valuable. Tailoring your resume to highlight transferable skills, emphasizing your willingness to relocate, and targeting companies that have remote or flexible policies can help. Networking with professionals in your desired location and using LinkedIn to connect with recruiters can also open doors.

When I was exploring opportunities in new locations, the career team at alfredpetersonhiringteam/gmail/com helped me position my experience effectively, which ultimately helped me secure my role as a flight instructor. Connecting with them could provide guidance and strategies for out-of-state job searches.

Stay confident, relocation is an opportunity for growth, and the right role is out there waiting for you!

Anyone have any friends who successfully pivoted out of advertising? I know a handful of people who are half-trying to, but I can’t think of anyone who has made a clean break, on their own terms, into something that appears to be making them feel more fulfilled than they were in the ad biz. So they continue freelancing in order to make a living, while not gaining much traction elsewhere.

I'm trying to figure out how to pivot out of my current job. My department is in utter chaos, which has just become completely unmanageable. I'm looking for front-end web design work, and work from home. I am a strong designer and basically set up landing pages for large companies on a proprietary CMS in our company. If anyone knows of places I could apply? I'm not trying to reinvent myself as I do artwork on the side and would rather grow that business and get out of the chaos of fortune 500.

Why is education deemed more valuable on a pay scale than experience? Employers will pay someone with a degree and no experience a greater salary, than someone who has exhibited the experience. Understanding that the degreed person committed to school and finished, yet that doesn't diminish what the not degreed has committed to and accomplished in their careers. This has to stop!

Studied accounting and finance but worried about the future of this profession. Currently working in Forensic Consulting but want to leave. Should I go back to undergrad and get a computer science degree? I honestly want a career where I could at least potentially make 600 k per year. I feel in accounting it’s near impossible. Additionally, I’m sick of people looking down on me. My gf is getting a PhD in a social science and gets way more respect then me. I am 25 also. HELP

Leaving my current job for a career pivot. Current job has been challenging to say the least and senior management never hears what others have to say. Employment is an at will state.
Senior leadership is so unforgiving that I fear by giving notice, I’ll be asked to leave and lose out on two weeks pay.
Thoughts and feedback on not giving notice or reducing the typical two weeks?
Thank you!
