I'm looking to switch to a remote bioinformatics role. I got my B.S. in marine biology 2020 and an M.S. in Biotech/Bioinformatics 2023. I have 3 years of post undergrad oncology research experience. Currently in an PD role.

I noticed that most bioinformatics/biostatistician role require some sort of coding experience. I know some R, Python, and SQL.

How versed should I be in those languages? Any tips to transition into a remote research role? I'm learning AI/ML on the side, is it worth it?

My manager has given me rating 1 in confirmatory appraisal on may 18 may which happened after completion of 1 year at wipro.

I am project manager in clinical research industry (CRO). After earning PhD, I gave up my science dream to take a more stable job. After slowly climbing the ladders, I feel like I finally got a seat at the table. Half the days I like the hustle, but now I miss being creative. I want to take more brainstorming, decision making responsibilities but I don’t see that in the career path for PM. Career path usually goes like this- Sr PM, Director, Sr Director, and so on. But all do same work.

I accepted a $115K base salary, 13% bonus, 10k sign on bonus (scientist supervisor) job and two weeks later, got a $135K base, 17% bonus, and 15K sign on bonus (Senior scientist role) offer from another company. Should I accept the new offer ? How do I tell the previous company about this? Also, I’ve already negotiated with the first company and the $115K base is the negotiated salary. I really do not prefer one company over the other. They’re both great! I’m very confused here. TIA🙏

Spoke to hiring manager and they even offered another position which matched my skills. Scheduled a full panel interview. Met with the team had a great chat, Founder even said "I guess you can start right away"..Hiring manager calls later says they'll update then boom that generic email hits my inbox. I’m a CRC who manages Investigator- led clinical research projects and I want to transition to a PM role in industry (I would slightly prefer not a PM role in clinical trials since I don’t have clinical trial experience.)
