I’m lowkey really nervous and don’t know what to do/how to go about this situation.

Hey, I have 4 YOE and currently a manager at PwC and have been managing teams for a little over a year now. My role mainly consists of leading teams of engineers deliver MVPs to our clients.
If I wanted to exit to Google or Facebook (Meta) what role would align for me? I was looking at engineering manager roles but unsure if that’s too senior for me.

Don’t renege EY just yet - big risk. You’re only done with a phone screen at Google and will likely have 3/4 more rounds at the minimum. I’m not sure if those will happen within a span of 2 weeks (considering 2 weeks notice at Deloitte). A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush!
See how your interviews at Google go. Best case scenario - you get selected, it’s your dream company, and you put in 2 weeks at EY. It is what it is.
I recommend not to share anything about EY. I don’t see the point in sharing that.
Not sure why you are trying to tell the Google recruiter about the offer.
I’m with EY1 and recommend you wait until you are in or expect negotiations to share that you have another offer. They don’t really speed it up if you haven’t gone through at least hiring manager and another round and with the time they may want e.g. 3-4 weeks... it will be understood that you are likely reneging on an external offer which is obviously not a good look. Read the EY contract carefully for any legal obligations - if you’re hired at staff level it is typically ok. I also recommend slow rolling your start date until a time you can confidently predict that the candidacy process is done with google. If it is your dream job you owe it to yourself to see it through. Good luck!
Relax. This is quite easy. This what u do.
Take the EY job as if you never had an interview with Google.
In the chance you get the Google job, put in resignation at EY. You won't care about upsetting anyone at EY when ur joining your dream company.
Do it. Don’t think about EY. EY isn’t thinking about you.

Google literally takes months to go through interviews and subsequent team convos you're far away from that either way
I didn’t realize so many people were this negative. Interesting.
A lot of people in welcome to ey class left within a month as they got offers from faang
This is helpful to know! Thank you
Having just gone through this. You can inform them about your compressed timeline but they likely have multiple great candidates for this role so you won’t be able to accelerate the interview process. Too many factors including google manager schedules, time off, other candidates schedules, etc.
I would just be prepared to burn the EY bridge if you get an offer.
Agree with everyone else though, it’s a long interview process so take a deep breath.
Thank you!!
My thought was to wait until after the conversation with the HM but I keep going back and forth about it.
This is literally my worst fear ever. Let me know how it goes. I am scared once I officially start my job, my dream company will suddenly reach out to me
Ya’all got some serious growing up to do if this is your worst fear!
The Google interview could take a few months. I absolutely would not put pressure on them outside of “what’s the ETA” — they could easily find someone else whereas you cannot
Okay yea - this is what I was originally thinking. Just wait until my conversation with the hiring manager to see if it actually goes anywhere and push my EY start date back a couple weeks.
Ey is not a great place to work at! If it is faang that will give a big boost to your resume itself
OP, it is one person's jaded opinion btw. I have mainly read positive things about EY in comparison to deloitte (minus the unlimited pto). If you don't get Google and go to EY, don't feel like you made a bad decision. Each practice is different and worst case scenario, you apply elsewhere again in a few months.
What is it you’re trying to accomplish that requires you to be at google? Is there some reason you want it to google instead of any other tech company? Or, is it just the name?
I want out of consulting companies. Would rather be an internal consultant at a FAANG company. Google has just always been on my radar. Mission & culture excited me from a young age. Not sure that there’s any one specific thing I want to accomplish besides to pursue my dream.
Why do you ask? Just want to understand what you’re getting at.

Lol you’re at the phone screen and you’re worried?
