I was in the final stages of an interview with Microsoft two weeks ago, in partner marketing. Then the recruiter told me they were putting the hiring process on hold to assess the need for the role. Well, then we heard about Microsoft layoffs last week. Seems like most were in Xbox and Project Alpha but there’s not a lot of information out there. Should I hold out any hope that I’m going to get this job? Any insights on how much these layoffs have impacted the marketing org and/or new hiring?

It happens... family first ... then one day you wake up and realize your social network has been all about parents of kids your kids ages...but don't worry... it corrects itself... kids go off to college.. you and your spouse find new hobbies... friends follow...
I came home from the Army with all my friends moved away. I joined a couple charitable groups and hang out groups and have made a couple great friends along the way.
Married with 4 kids and have full time employment? It’s a wonder you even know who you are anymore, let alone have any friends!
My spouse and I each claim one evening per week on the calendar to use as we wish. You could use it to get a drink with someone you used to be tight with. New friends are hard, old connections are easier to reestablish.
Get a hobby.
Find an alive church and focus on a few people your age. Be interested in them. Listen. Ask questions. Stay in contact.
Join a church or synagogue. Don't need to be crazy religious or anything. Just go for the social aspect.
Took over a book for a guy retiring and moved to a new town where neither myself or my wife knew anyone. Took a while, but through the chamber, young professionals, and the VFW we have met some great people. You need to be out and be active in the community. You will meet people and the more you see people the more options you have to find shared interests.
Totally get it........
