Transferring to Hyatt can be great value for hotels. Transferring to air Canada and Air France are good for flights on their metal or their partners. Lots of other options too really depends on where and when you’re going and whether coach or business

Thanks!

My girlfriend just got that before the holidays too (so we easily hit the bonus), and I have an airline credit card that's been piling up points during the pandemic. We're each authorized users, so we can put some purchases on one or the other, especially shared purchases like gas and groceries. The initial check dings your credit, but as long as you don't let your usage pile up and don't open too many cards it'll end up being a good thing. Not that I'm an expert, but that's my experience.

What does maximize mean to you? Most amount of flights? Hotel stays? ROI on points to dollar value (usually from biz class flights)?

Maximize dollars spent to redeemable value for personal travel - basically want to use the points for vacations

When you’re applying for a new job, how do you put together a conflicts report without raising flags at your current firm? A firm I am applying to wants every matter I’ve worked on, all adverse parties, etc., but I feel like asking our conflicts department for that information is as good as saying “I’m trying to leave, don’t pay me a bonus.”

I work in consulting and have 1-2 YOE. I have been getting reached out to by recruiters almost weekly (mostly for restructuring roles). The minimum offers have been a 20% base pay increase (with similar bonus structure) and some offers as high as 40% base pay increase. I haven’t really entertained any of the recruiters as I love where I work and more importantly who I work with, and I also average a 45 hour work week, but I’m starting to feel underpaid based on these offers. Thoughts Fishbowl?

Just found out i'm not getting a bonus because i'm not progressing with my class (5th year for context) even though I made hours. So, I’ve found out that my annual income is beyond the limit for Roth IRA (because of bonus, which I failed to account for). I am told that I need to withdraw 6k that I contributed to it. Do I also need to withdraw the increase due to the 6k that I invested in it? Anything else I need to consider?

I have an offer than will pay me the same base salary but total comp is about 30% more than my current total comp - driven by sign on and performance bonus. It’s a bit of a career shift, different industry and better growth potential. This was after my counter offer so asking for more isn’t an option. Am I crazy for considering to take it, or should base salary not be the main focus?

Asking for a friend. Currently at a boutique consulting firm as Assistant Director making $170k with good work life balance. On track to Director end of this year with next increment likely at $180k. Has an offer from EY in Financial Services, at M3 level for $195k + $20k sign in bonus. Promotion to Senior Manager at EY doesn't seem likely until 2023. Is this is a good offer? Would it be advisable considering opportunity vs work life balance at EY?

United Healthcare fishes, does anyone have any salary insight to Manager of Data Analytics? I’m interviewing next week with a recruiter and compensation will come up. I also would like to ask how to approach this one additional issue. Seeing as it’s the end of January, if they’re looking to fill the role prior to March, it would mean I walk away from my current employer’s bonus which pays out in the 2nd week of March. I’m expecting $20k. How do I go about asking for a one time starting bonus?

I left EY three years ago today for a job industry. I am so much happier out of Big4 and public accounting. I am all about the idea of salary transparency and everything but do you have people in your life who are jealous of the salary you make and are constantly trying to compete? And not just with you but with your entire friend circle? This made me not wanna tell my real salary. And let’s be honest some people with the same job title in a different company will be making more or less money than you depending on other things. Just wanted to see what are the thoughts of other people here.
