I’m noticing more and more in-house folks jumping back to agency life because they miss the variety. And I get it: one brand, one tone, one set of problems can feel creatively limiting. But for me, there’s something really satisfying about owning a brand long-term, shaping its identity, and seeing real impact over time. I like being in the room where decisions happen, not pitching from the outside. That said… I do miss working on wildly different projects with wildly different clients. What made you stay brandside? And what would make you walk?

I also like being more of an “expert” on one brand and seeing it evolve and grow. I feel like I make a real impact and have helped shape its existence and evolution. I also make considerably more money than I did at an agency, I’m done by 5 almost every day, and I’m remote. I would walk if they changed me to being in-office since that would be like a salary decrease with commuting costs. I’ve also been in their headquarters’ offices, and they are bland and lifeless. It’d feel claustrophobic.

I just finished what I thought was the final round of interviews for a job that I really want. Everything has been going extremely well. The recruiter just called to tell me that they want me to do one more round, though. This will make 8 interviews total, including a full case study presentation to 4 people. Should I be worried? Is this a red flag?
