If a hiring manager can’t make decisions on how to hire for their team, imagine how they would make decisions on other work. Sounds exhausting
At least 5 too many. Agency or in-house? Just curious.
It’s in-house.
They're dicking you around. 8 rounds is a red flag.

8 interviews is rather excessive. What level position is this? If it’s Executive Leadership, than I wouldn’t say it too much cause for concern. Or, if the company is really big on culture fit. Although, these are usually less buttoned up interviews in the final stages.
Assuming the case study was previous work? If they had you create work, mixed with drawing out the process is a red flag.
This doesn’t sound that crazy. Just a bit disorganized maybe.
8 rounds of interviews or interviews with 8 people?
Like I’ve done recruiter —> hiring manager —> panel (3-4 people) —> exec so 6-7 people but 4 interviews.
I feel like this is an opportunity to convince another potential team mate. I think it should be encouraged to talk to as many people as possible through out the process.
I interviewed with 7 different people for an internal job, it would have been a lateral title, albeit in a different capacity. I work for a Fortune 50 company. 8 seems a bit much for an external hire, but depends on the role and if the people you’re interviewing are from different teams in the same org
Absolutely preposterous. Companies today are so bloated and bureaucratic, they waste everyone’s time. Look at the opportunity cost. I wonder how many annual salaries are spent in literally a single month with the insane number of hours spent across dozens of people trying to hire one person.
