I’m currently on a PIP too. Thankfully I left my last project and got on a new project within the firm but I’m still wondering if I should leave the firm or stay and try to get off the PIP as my new project lead is more willing to work with me.

Not true at all. I was on a PIP once years ago (for BS reason and the jerk SA who did it got canned later anyway…). I’m still at BAH. Now I’m a CM for someone on a PIP and they seem to have taken it to heart and has really stepped up their game. PIPs are like AA - “it works if you work it.”

When you become a Partner you actually do get access to people’s permanent records, makes for really interesting reading. You’ll never guess who stole a Kit-Kat from the local store when they were 8!

No way anyone else will know you were on PIP unless you tell them. Make sure you grab the severance before you leave though.
Some future job applications might ask if you've ever been fired from a previous job. Get out before it happens. Not worth the severance.
Usually when they ask “if you have been fired” they refer to “termination for cause” and that doesn’t include performance reasons.
Someone check me on this please, but wouldn't it behoove OP to just start his new job, not give notice at his old place and see how long he can go double dipping? If new employer doesn't allow second source of income, don't give notice, just stop working and then quit the day before you start your new job.

I suppose it depends on your firm’s rules and the reason(s) for the PIP, but I would think the two are mutually exclusive at most firms, if your bonus is supposed to be a reward for good work…

Just go for your mental health. You don't want to get the call and be told to leave the building without meeting your colleagues.
How do you get on PIP?

Do crappy work (a lot), get counseled about it (a lot). Then get told “this is your last chance; we are documenting everything and if you don’t meet these performance expectations you will be terminated.”

The PIP actually gets transferred to your next employer. Like a credit card balance transfer.
How can you be in picture in picture? Are you on TV?
Ideally speaking how long until you end up on a PIP? I’m on my first year and i’m pretty sure i’ll end up on a pip soon.
