I think that depends - if you're planning on staying in the same industry, you should be ok to start considering mid-level and senior roles. If you're switching out, you may still be able to land a mid-level role as a data scientist if you can demonstrate tech ability + willingness to learn and improve
Learning on the job is always preferable, imo, but you can also try your hand at an online course to see how confident you feel about your skills.
It's perfectly fine to learn on the job but personally I like to take a course beforehand or something so I feel confident
Agree. There's so many available now and they aren't too costly. If nothing more it does boost your confidence.
