I’m one year away from a potential Director promotion, but I honestly don't know if I want the responsibility that comes with it. The higher I climb, the less I actually do accounting and the more I just manage personalities and corporate politics. I’ve been looking at IC roles in internal audit just to get some peace of mind back. Am I crazy for wanting to take a lateral move to a less prestigious title just to save my mental health?

What level and service line were you at the big 4, and what percent salary increase did you get once you left? I’m a S1>S2, and the offers I’m seeing are around 10%-15% higher, which feels a little low. But maybe I’m being unrealistic.
