Maybe controversial, and it may not work for everyone… but I went from daycare to a nanny (I mostly work from home), and it was life changing. I no longer stress about drop offs and not seeing my babies throughout the day. I know they are getting the one-on-one care they need. And frankly, for my area, it was only slightly more expensive to have a nanny vs having two in daycare.
If you need to work, are there ways to make your childcare a better fit for you and your mental health?
It’s hard and very overwhelming to go back to work and a stressful routine. Are you able to ease into it and start off part time for a few weeks while you adjust?
Can you take more time?
I was having a rough postpartum and took an extra 6 weeks off. It was good for me. I hope you can too.
So with my 1st, I went to my doctor and told them I was experiencing postpartum anxiety and depression and also was experiencing difficulty rehabbing from birth (which was true; had a difficult delivery) and they gave me a dr note that extended paid leave 4 weeks. With my second, my baby was a really bad sleeper and was still waking every 2 hours at 4 months so I extended unpaid leave 6 weeks. DM me if you would like to strategize.

Does your husband make enough for you to quit?
Is it an option for him to quit and stay home for the first year or two (or even a few months), and would he be willing? That's what we did and it made going back to work so much easier for me.
