Advice needed - boyfriend has almost 3.5 years of finance experience at a bank. Interviewed for PwC valuation senior associate and now recruiter says they want to hire him at “experienced associate” because he has no valuation experience. Is this too big of a step backwards in career? Should he push back and see if it gets him anywhere? If he does accept Associate, is it reasonable to ask for written, definitive timeline (1 year?) for promo to Senior upon meeting standards? Help!

What leverage do you think you have to negotiate severance?
None, but nothing to lose, either, right?? 🫠
What is the point of this post and responses to people?
You stated you have no leverage is my point but best of luck. Can’t hurt to negotiate. Worth having an attorney look at before signing
Dude can't spell employer correctly but thinks he's going to negotiate his severance package. Bold strategy Cotton

Make some inquiry with your immediate supervisor if there will any negative impact for your asking or if they back you up as you said you provide good work. There is nothing wrong with asking more if I were you I would do analysis of current job market or your current financial status. I always found it worked when you have an offer from another employer who is willing to offer you more, even though you think your current employer is the one you would like to continue with. Having an employment offer will give you leverage more than your current good performance. Plus, bright side is if things don’t go your way you can always leave right away. Once you put that negotiation on the table believe most employers will level you as someone hard to retain unless you are exceptional and they know they can’t afford to loose you.
Hire an employment lawyer.
Here to say that I had a friend who hired an attorney to review their severance agreement and was able to negotiate an extra three months severance out of it (the initial offer was three months). He worked at a mid tier CPA firm.
