I’m wondering what you all think about working private practice compared to a company? I’m mostly interested to in knowing if a high pay in private practice would out weigh a lower salary with benefits because paying for insurance can be expensive for a family. And if choosing the private route how much should I expect to pay for insurance?

I'm an engineer, and I feel like my manager is more of a friend than anything else. Might be shifting to a outpatient oncology position from a medical social worker in a hospital setting, any pros/cons major differences?

How do you deal with imposter syndrome? I'm a new therapist and I work with a bunch of women who have been doing this for ages. They're all really sweet, but I can't help feeling like I'm way out of my league. I mostly see younger clients which I guess works in my favor, but I just feel like I'm totally incompetent compared to the women I work with.

Do you think all these violent and hate filled attacks are because people aren't getting the emotional/mental support they need, whether it's therapy at any age or help they needed but didn't get from a social worker as a child? My coworker is sure this is the case, but I honestly think there's actually something deeper wrong either with how these people are being raised as children, or how the warning signs these people give off are ignored or swept under the rug to save face.

So embarrassed. I literally had one job to do today which was to schedule a client and give and take her paperwork when she came in. Totally called her by the wrong name today AND gave her the wrong paperwork. She was really nice about it but I feel like my boss was disappointed and I'm disappointed in myself. I don't want her to think I won't be able to keep clients straight when I start doing supervised sessions.
