I’m working as an allocator in market neutral public market strategy funds; am about to be recommended for a promotion to associate. However, an analyst position just opened up internally in Credit, which is where I aspire to be for the next ten years. More growth and more intellectual challenge. I’m conflicted about applying for a lateral transfer and losing out on a promotion. Will I be missing out a promotion or should I negotiate a promotion as part of my application to this role ?

Partners- with upcoming seniors getting a promotion raise will salaries of the class ahead of them be taken into consideration?
Is it possible a newly promoted senior could make more than a 4th year
