This seems like a great way to alienate a large number of potential customers. I really don't understand it. Why even bother taking a side on this debate?

Sadly because video gaming media and the people that work on it are so online they make this seem like a bigger deal than it is.

As someone who covers video gaming from a freelance media standpoint the “anti-DEI” movement in games is a loud but always online group. Companies who think this is the way to go without focusing on what makes games great will find out the hard way. These people rally around games like Black Myth for all the wrong reasons just because they want games to be more white male dominated than they already are.
