It took me a while to secure something (4-5 months) because I was trying to be intentional with where I applied to. I came across places that had high turnover, lean teams, and/or a toxic work culture so these roles were open for a reason. I finally landed something but since being here, I'm realizing more and more that this place/job is not a good fit for me. Feeling pretty discouraged and completely drained. Sorry I don't have better advice but I'm hoping you have a better experience.
Same thing happened to me toxic work culture was the reason thankfully I made enough to qualify for unemployment when they started letting freelancers go. It’s def a reason when it’s high turnover perm ppl were leaving under 6 months. Be aware of restructuring & when everyone is new!Week one I told my gfs at brunch. I’m not gonna be here long. Toxicity shows up quickly. Also staying in my salary range is another challenge which narrows down even more roles. I had a great part-time role which was only scoped for 3 months it was easy money, 😩
It will take some tome but when the job that is meant for you comes along it will be yours! Keep your head up!
I have been out of work since December but like the other person I’m being more intentional with my job searching. The last job I had was toxic and it was a blessing when I was laid off. I am also taking time for me and using this time to get my PMP certification and pursue two business opportunities that I wanted to start while I have the time. I know it’s hard not to get discouraged but the right job will come along. The good news is that employers are not concerned with gaps as much in your job searching (or at least I have heard)
It’s not easy. I was let go in March and it’s kind of a blessing since it was a toxic work environment. I applied to 100 plus jobs, still waiting to hear back from 60+ and I’ve only gotten 2 interviews. I’ve been ghosted by recruiters and hiring managers a few times. It’s not easy and it’s very discouraging since I’m trying to find a remote position while I’m studying law in London- hoping to land something before June/ July.
I’m 9 months in and still struggling to land something. I don’t know how much longer I can go!
Columbus, OH while everyone wants remote, I’m flexible and open to anything, as long as I can get my foot in the door.
A while I was laid off from second contract gig in two months. Thankfully Made enough for unemployment. However it’s going on 2 months exactly today this is with temp & the perm rejections. Like others I try to only apply for what matches my career experience. Even though they tell you open your options the time and energy it takes with some of these long applications is isn’t worth it. Due to supply vs demand they will still reach out to ppl in the direct field. However even with my experience both times I was one of the final two. Some roles they want specific tools or it’s soft skills. Keep pushing that’s all we can do. I’m in NYC. I feel location matters as well.
