Laid off. Sometimes they pay you so you won’t sue the company for unlawful termination.
I thought we are all employed at will, what right would we have to sue the company? If my understanding is correct, we literally could be let go and replaced at any time due to that clause. On the flip side, we can also jump ships at any time without fear of non compete issues.
If you hit a % of employees fired, then they are required to give severance
