Hi 🐠. I have a sibling that recently emigrated to Toronto and trying to land into healthcare consulting. Her background: MD degree, PhD in public health and currently doing diploma in cybersecurity. All of her degrees are from Asia. She has mostly spent her career as an academic in Asia and has extensive research and publications in public health. Any suggestions on what types of opportunities exist for her in Toronto?

I’d to get a job in a small architecture firm or work for a developer to help build up my network. For the past 6 years I’ve taught high school architecture and engineering and done real estate on the side. I have an industrial design degree and tremendous construction and real estate sales knowledge. I also started architecture school but stupidly switched to industrial design. I don’t want to go back to school for architecture. Ultimately, I want to own my own company developing real estate.

Overworked, underpaid prosecutor, almost halfway through 10 year PSLF. I know PSLF is not guaranteed but I have $230k debt. I just got overlooked for a promotion to someone with 4 years less experience and now she is my senior attorney. I have 6 bosses. I’m really unhappy but I have been collecting a paycheck during COVID while working from home. What’s the best transition out of being a Prosecutor? I have 8 years xp as an attorney. 5 as a prosecutor.

How do the levels in big 4 tax (associate, senior, etc) compare to industry tax? I’m on the verge of a promotion and starting to apply to industry jobs but I’m not sure which level matches my experience.

I was listening to a podcast for one of the courses I’m taking and thought I’d share some cool stuff about building habits:

- Willpower is not as effective in making a long term change compared to building habits

- Reduce friction (eg much more likely to go to gym if it’s 5 mins away vs 10)

- Take an existing habit and add your new habit onto it

- Use chaos and stressful times to rethink practical decisions

- To break bad habits, add friction (eg phone & charger away at night)

Had final round of interviews on Monday. Got word today that I didn’t make the cut. Don’t know what I coulda done differently, I thought the interviews went very well. Have no idea what else they were looking for. Tied my experience to the LPs, I was relaxed, conversational.....ah well. 😕😞😟

I have been dating my gf for 6 months now. She’s a nice enough girl to hang out with but recently I’ve been feeling as though the effort in the relationship is really imbalanced.
