After ~20-30 min on a call, I stop paying attention.
The new company I’m at now sent me an email from an email address that was HR@companyName.careers saying I was accepted for the position. They gave me paperwork to fill out and sign to accept the position
I fill out the paperwork and send it back to them and it goes through… then a few days later I go back to the email to say something else and I get this…?
Then today I got a check from the company In the mail to setup my home office, and it’s signed by someone I’ve never met before or heard of…?

It won't be the last time in the career. Always carry receipts

Bring it up on the next call. “Hey remember when you were trying to throw me under the bus, and you embarrassed yourself in front of everyone? Good times right?”

But seriously, you kinda have to do this. Bc you put a target on your back. They are working every back channel and relationship under the sun to undermine you. Maybe they need to go take a long nap. I know a nice spot.
Always. Have. Receipts.
That said, be prepared for this person to be extra bitter about this situation and working every angle behind the scenes to stab you in the back further.

Receipts 🧾 like a boss ! Good for you. And they can burn in a special place in hell for not just owning their shit but blaming you.
This is a rough spot and one I have found myself in before. I have experienced this go badly because I have a tendency to catastrophize my own mistakes so to think I am responsible for someone else’s is unbearable to me. That said I have overreacted thinking people cared more than they actually did and I ended up looking foolish because everyone had forgotten about it anyway. It’s a tough spot to be in. I personally give my managers credit for everything even if it was my idea or I was a major contributor. As an upper level manager I see the accomplishments of my team (even if it appears that I did nothing) as the best indication of how I am performing.
