No - and as an associate it's easy to get caught up in the job hopping craze, but if you'd ever like to make $300k+, you need to make vertical progress through senior, past manager, and into a director role
Smaller but with better reputation? E.g. from big 4 to Bain? Yes.
Smaller in the sense of big 4 to little/no reputation consultancy so you can get another $10-15k? No.
Smaller in the sense of taking a pay cut to leave for industry? Maybe, but at the associate level, probably not.

Think to point out, at the smaller firm, you should be getting much more exposure and growth opportunities.

This is what I came here to say. I’d also add that at a larger firm, you can “hide” a bit more from a senior leader with whom you don’t work well. But you can’t really do that at a smaller firm, so definitely make sure you know the leaders if you do decide to move
