Is 80k too low for someone with 5 years in consulting in New York? Just got an offer from a pretty good firm, but I feel like the pay isn’t reflecting the market or my experience. I’m kind of in that awkward space where I’m more than just starting out, but not quite at senior consultant levels. Should I negotiate or is this just what the market’s offering for someone like me on the East Coast?

I work on a consulting team at a large software company. I’m a job hopper, around 2 years each at my first and second jobs and a little over a year at this job. I recently found out they’re shutting my team down. We’re not fired, but they’re transferring us to the core implementation team, which has a horrible reputation for malignancy, overworking, and isn’t at all what I was hired to do.
