Sure, I always entertain the notion. If I had more of a financial cushion I'd give it a try. If I could work remotely from the west of Ireland, I'd be gone tomorrow. The next few years in particular seem like a good time to be admiring the scenery somewhere else.
30 liberals liking your comment. Sweet! I’m with you if I had a cushion but for travel more then who the president is. MAGA!
I’m currently planning my exit. I want to go to a (unnamed to avoid context clues) country as a student, take the language for a year, then continue my college degree. I’ve applied to 2 schools this week, once I get my enrollment letter I can get my student visa, begin selling stuff, finding housing, and then coordinate moving my family there (who are STOKED). The thing is about this (or any such] plan is that it will be expensive, fraught with uncertainty, and I’m anxious about how much stuff I’ll simply need to throw out. It’s scary.
BUT
This AI stuff is a bubble that’s already bursting and I’ve been laid off before, I know some of the signs and it’s begun
The tech landscape is becoming unfriendly to queer employees
There’s the ongoing jen o side that most tech companies support
and my parents just passed last year as a result of our horrendous medical industry. Between that and my own disabilities that will eventually kill me, I’m done, time to go.
TLDR go go go go go

Not at all.
I left the US with my family about a year ago and worked remotely for my US job. Managed to not be in the US for more than 30 days (35 days allowed but didn’t want to risk having to come back for an emergency) and was able to claim the FEIE. Between my wife and I the FEIE reduced our taxable income by about $240,000. At our tax bracket that was about $80,000 less in taxes. That alone covered most of our living abroad and traveling expenses. We are not staying long enough in any location to establish a tax residency or requiring any special visa. With a US passport there are tons of countries where you can stay for 2-3 months at a time without any paperwork
The biggest challenge was the time zone difference. Which limited travel destinations to areas compatible with the Bay Area. Also, at the beginning it was a challenge to find a place to do focused work
More recently, decided to start my own company and at least until I need to hire more people, I hope to have much more flexibility regarding the time zone. Also, by living in cheaper places and reducing taxes, the runway for getting my company started is way longer (3-4x) than if I had stayed in California.
No.
Absolutely. I am leaving in Spring / Summer 2026 to give myself enough time to line up the pieces. It's been great but what the heck is wrong with these people?
Respectfully Sibling, you may be too late. Spring of 26 may never come...
Yes.

Bye Felicia.
Yes, half my neighborhood! HA HA!
Why, what is wrong with the USA? I've been all over the world and I will tell you there is not better place to live,..are you here on a visa or an undocumented illegal concerned about getting deported?.. Or is this post mainly about political views?
Please do
It’s definitely in the plans. It’s pretty clear that there are more people that don’t use their brain cells for critical thinking than those that do. Will be interesting to say the least over the next few years……IF we get the chance to vote again.

Not so fast Sales Manager 2: Not about your plans but I have it on good authority that a good number of people had their critical thinking disenfranchised and did not have time to fix it before the 'test'. But the ones who use their thinking critical to foster hate, division and stupidity are about to find out that the mirror black is gonna give them whiplash. Grunt and scratch crowd voted for dino farts but dear leader brought in the Rat of Musk that is synonymous with charging stations and EVs? So maybe it's not so much that there are that many more dead cells out there than charged cells, but that the charged cells are very, very quiet.
Please leave
Definitely me they think they can pay us so little where I live. I have mapped out a few places that would definitely be cheaper to retire and better health care as well
Yeah, heading to North Korea or Gaza
I’m leaving. This country is Helll
Absolutely not
Yeah where do You want to go?
That only leaves them more incentive to bring H1B folks
No
I've contemplated leaving Germany for Poland or the Czech Republic, but life and Putin got in the way so I'll stay.
