I’m from the US and dual qualified. My husband is similarly from the UK and we moved due to his job. I work for a US firm, but I got hired after we moved here and I’m considered a local employee (not US expat). I’m therefore paid in line with the UK not the US, unfortunately. I don’t know if it would be different if you lined up a job pre-moving over. My US practice area was not one that was transferable to the UK, so I switched following qualification here.
Great insight! thank you.
COLA is really only for cap markets US associates, agree local practices like employment would be salaried at UK levels (and note not all UK firms follow the same pay model).
A lot of the v20 pay cravath in London. COLA is hard to get if you’re not being asked to move and if you are not corporate. My mentor is dual barred but is a corporate lawyer. I have never heard of a need for a US-barred employment litigator in the UK.
Thanks. That's the reason I'm considering getting England and Wales licensed. No business case for me to transfer so hoping to rebrand.
