I’m the microbrand guy here. Fan of Halios, like what Lorier puts out but have never had one.
My go to micros are:
Zelos - wide range of high quality original designs. I have the Horizons made special with the Aventurine dial and it’s amazing. Great watch and it keeps almost perfect time -1s/day with the coolest custom rotor this side of the Zenith Defy. He does a lot of bronze watches and I regret selling my bronze teal swordfish every time I see one. This fall when the Skyraider Skeleton variant is re-released I am 100% going to pick one up. The swordfish and Mako are his most popular watches because they are exceptional values in the $300-450 price range.
NTH - NTH, which stands for Nod To History, is most famous for its mil subs which are mostly homages to famous vintage watches. Mine is an homage to the Rolex 6204, the first ever submariner with the big crown and before Mercedes hands. They have just about perfected the case, it’s 40x11mm and with the unguarded big crown wears like a vintage sub but made with modern materials. The bracelets are really good. He has other watches too including an internal bezel super compressor and a cushion case style 70s diver.
Some day I will be able to get my hands on a Ming. I love the 27.01 and hope he makes another batch.
Micros as a whole are cool because you can really understand what the owner is going for, interact with them for stuff you’d like to see, and they are mostly great values. Hot microbrands are released in batches and sell out fast, but hold their resale really well.

I will put in a good word for Farer’s GMT

Halios? I have a fairwind (eventually) coming my way in the next month or two. I think the seaforth is a beautiful watch, esp pastel blue. There’s a good thread in this bowl on this topic - check it out!

I’ve wanted that pastel blue for a while now, but not enough to pay the up charge. Some people are asking $1500 which is twice what it cost originally.
Someone had one matched with the Ginault bracelet and that looked excellent.
Sold my Halios Seaforth Bronze. It was fine, but I don’t think the quality was better than the seiko diver I have at the ~$800 price point. Was shocked someone paid me $1100 for it, so the demand is there obviously. Dial was really nice, but didn’t love the watch in person and didn’t connect with it. Guess I’m in the minority here.
Seconded on the Farer front. I love my Bernina and have the new Maze GMT bezel from Farer on the way :)
